Dr Johanna Ward, Medical Director of The Skin Clinic Sevenoaks, has been delighted, not only with the results, but with the versatility of the skin system she purchased from us in February. She already ran a successful practice and decided to add the wide range of light and heat based solutions, within a combined SkinFirst machine, to complete her repertoire of advanced aesthetic options.
She is particularly pleased with the hair removal and acne results as these treatments represent a large part of the volume of our clinical work.
SkinFirst Systems target the chromophore porphyrins using a 430nm filter. This creates an anaerobic environment in which bacteria cannot survive. In addition, water molecules are stimulated to further oxygenate the environment and improve skin condition.
Many machines on the market don’t have an option to perform at this level and don’t have the medical certification to treat for acne. Instead they treat at the same wavelength as used for thread veins and pigmentation (which we could as well) but this is not as effective for acne.
Dr Ward is a Consultant GP with a special interest in dermatology and has written a dissertation and published many articles on acne and acne scarring.
